SCE is preparing to rebuild electric transmission lines right in the middle of the Station Fire footprint. Our license will contain an abundance of biomonitoring, and we'll need to re-monitor burned areas prior to construction start to validate flora and fauna presence. We are particularly interested in seeing where the listed Mariposa Lily pops up after the winter rains, as that species' seed germination is fire-enhanced. Will keep you posted.

The Italian "far niente" comes to mind! Sounds sweeter than "do nothing".
Your piece is so well written, I hope it gets out to the great numbers of well-meaning, energetic nature-lovers -- how to love without harming.

Although wildfires can happen in any month of the year now, our typical fire season is August through November, with a peak in October. Spring wildfires are rare because our rain falls from November through April.

Yes, and I'm sure there is damage to the facilities in the mountains. I haven't seen figures yet for the $$ cost of this fire, but the real cost will last for decades.
